Sections of the game where you are in a pitch black room, surrounded by enemies, only being able to see from the light of your muzzle flashes are some of my favorite horror gaming memories. but in my opinion it was a brilliant addition to the gameplay, which made the game extremely tense and scary. Now, I realize it's dumb- of course a person could just duct tape a flashlight to their gun. One thing that I've always been a proponent of is the flashlight mechanic, which forced you to choose between your weapon and your light source. I picked up Doom 3 BFG the other day, excited to replay one of my favorite FPS/Survival horror games of all time.
